Aspect Asbestos Risk Management - taking the professional view

March 06 - Night time working no problem for Aspect Milton Keynes

Not every asbestos related job can be straightforward – for a start, it’s not always an empty building you have on your hands. In fact, one of the biggest challenges we ever face is where we have to do our work – while still allowing the customer to do theirs. A recent job for Ensafe Consultants on behalf of Stagecoach demonstrated this dilemma very well.

Dawbank in Stockport is one of Europe’s biggest bus depots. Aspect was contracted to conduct an environmental clean of the boiler room plus encapsulation of all internal walls – this was duly completed during a week of daytime working by a team from Aspect’s Milton Keynes office. However, it was the encapsulation of AIB required in the main office that threw up the challenge. With staff occupying the office during the day, we had to move to night-time working – not a problem but we also had to work around desks, paperwork and personal belongings, disturbing nothing and effectively making it look as if we hadn’t been there. The client was very impressed with our sensitive handling of the situation and our ability to complete the job without impacting in any way whatsoever on bus station operations.
