Environment – Looking After Tomorrow
Sustainability – Protecting Resources.
One of the key objectives when working with asbestos is to prevent the spread of asbestos fibres during the removal process and so the rigorous controls that we have in place by default to protect or workforce, also pays significant environmental dividends in that we don’t pollute the environment with deadly asbestos fibres.
We believe that our most significant environmental impact is our carbon footprint related to our vehicles and transport operations. Our modern commercial vehicle fleet use the latest ‘EURO’ efficient engines and emission control technology and our vehicle tracker system ‘C-Track’ can be used to effectively coordinate vehicle locations and workflows. We also use our vehicle tracker system to monitor driver styles and behaviours and CO2 emissions, with feedback available to our operational team managers to encourage safer and more environmentally friendly driving.
Although not as extensive as our commercial vehicle fleet, our company car fleet now includes 40% electric/hybrid vehicles and we anticipate that we will progressively move more towards this technology as we come to replace our other vehicles.
Although we generate significant amounts of hazardous asbestos waste as part of the remediation process, we always try to minimise the use of related consumables and where feasible we purchase these materials from validated sustainable sources.
We also monitor energy usage and waste recycling at our network of 3 regional offices.
